Octopus Designer is the cornerstone of Octopus CIP technology. It’s a WYSIWYG development tool that provides support for creating and running Octopus models in graphic environment. In current version, Octopus Designer is a standalone Java application that is distributed as single .zip archive file. Octopus Designer is free to use, but it is not an Open Source project. Anybody can use it without limitations and without any warranties (a small price to pay for the use of this tool). Bellow is a direct link to the Lisa Park Google drive. This file is publicly accessible and you can do whatever you want with it, so, please be a responsible user - do not alter it any way :-). To install and configure Octopus Designer please follow instructions in Getting Started tab on the top menu. Attention: Current distribution is targeted to the Windows platform only (due to limitations on the look-and-feel in most of the Linux distributions).

Constraint Programming (CP) is a relatively new direction in software development that is addressing optimization problems in the field of Enterprise Resource Planning. There are several established implementations available as Open Source Software or with commercial licensing (Choco, Constrainer - are OSS; Gurobi, IBM ILOG require commercial licensing). Most of these systems are developed in Java or can be used as part of Java applications. JSR-331 (Java Constraint Programming API) is a standard base that provides compatibility between applications, developed using different implementations of Constraint Programming. iOaaS is an interactive container that provides support for the Octopus optimization models. iOaaS can work with all JSR-331 compatible APIs. This presentation demonstrates the main aspects of Octopus interactive optimization with Choco Constraint Programming API.
